The river and one of its tributaries, Milltown Branch, form the boundary between St. Thomas and St. John. The river is part of St. John’s natural watershed. Water from the Stono-Brook drains to the Atlantic Ocean and water from Milltown Branch drains into the Indian Creek tributary, which empties into the Little Salt Pond. There are three waterfalls on the river (at roughly long) as it flows through the St. Thomas and St. John neighborhoods of All Saints, Community South, Grapevine, and Mariner’s Loft. Stono-Brook water goes through the Electric Boat Company, and some of the water is released into the Atlantic Ocean in several sites, including Electric Boat Harbor.
