there are plenty of books about the pronunciation of arabic but not many books that are specifically designed for the non-arabic reader. i have tried many books and none of them were as complete as the hans wehr dictionary. with this book, you can understand the meaning of the words you read in arabic instantly. it includes a key for pronunciation of arabic words, phrases and sentences. in addition, it provides an explanation of how the language works, and how it has evolved over the past 900 years.
